animism

it's quite remarkable just how often the animal is a motif in art and design. it's often used to stand in for our own human nature, an expression of that part of us that is more wild and primal. sometimes different animals reflect different characteristics we associate with ourselves - cunning as a fox, wise as an owl, greedy as a pig. going around and looking at all the animals around us here it's really interesting to notice what particular animals have been used and how they've been portrayed.

so, with all that in mind, this week's photo diary is dedicated to the animal in all of us.
