the wonder of robbins

a cam is a rotating or sliding piece in a mechanical linkage

if you've been to stockroom you've no doubt crossed paths with the work of the rather wonderful cameron robbins. his swirling water vortex and his smoke vortex at the back of the building are without doubt the most asked about pieces in the building. there's some gorgeous drawings of his too that are quite something to behold.

this year Cameron has been working as part of Contemporary Site Investigations to produce some amazing work in the Flinders Street Station building. really, incredible stuff.

he was featured on the Age recently, with a nice little video. click here to check it out.

das super cam

check it out - Cameron Robbins is a cover star on this month's Das Super Paper magazine. a great publication, totally free and devoted to covering the best contemporary art going around. hardly a surprise to see Cameron's art gracing the cover then.

Cameron has some amazing work with us in Stockroom, including the most talked about bit of art in the building - his site-specific fog vortex installation which is hooked up to our old boiler down by gallery 2. oh, and several of his genius wind drawings too.
