Two great new shows coming to Stockroom...
"Back for more sultanas..." Popular printmaker and visual arts lecturer Larry Parkinson can't get enough of Stockroom.
After the success of his show 'Mantle', held earlier this year at Wolf At The Door (now part of Stockroom art complex), Larry returns with a bigger show entitled 'Realm'. Inspired by the iconic symbol of the 'crown', Larry will take on "structures and surfaces that are an opportunity to decorate, bejewel and become an investment in the ornate." Sounds like he's going to be having some fun!
Award-winning sculptor Roman Leibach is bringing bring four new large pieces to Stockroom, exhibiting at the same time as Larry, with a new show entitled 'Black Mirrors'. Known primarily for his large evocative works in public spaces, Stockroom will give Roman the chance to install his work in the more intimate context of Gallery Two. Roman loves to use natural and often "abandoned" materials. "As evident in most of my other works," he says, "I’ve always had a strong, unmitigated attraction to genuine, natural materials, especially the humble ones; ‘the abandoned’, ‘the obsolete’.." - in this instance luscious graphite-covered timber.
Jason and Magali - co-owners of Stockroom - are once again proud to support such progressive contemporary Australian artists, and look forward to engaging the public - that means you! - with their remarkable works.
Come on down and see what you think! The opening is Saturday October 9, 4.30 - 7pm. RSVP: i@stockroomonpiper.com or 03 5422 3215. Exhibition dates: October 9 - November 7.
